United Way goal in reach!

Author: Carol C. Bradley

Thanks to those whose donations, pledges and fundraising support have helped us reach 90 percent of the University’s 2011 United Way Campaign goal of $300,000! Our United Way dollars help those in need, and make St. Joseph County a better place to live. Five percent of United Way contributions support the University’s Employee Compassion Fund, which helps those in the campus community with catastrophic needs.

If you haven’t done so, take a moment to fill out the pledge card you received in campus mail, or pledge securely online at unitedway.nd.edu. One-time donations are also welcome. All donations are tax-deductible, and those who contribute are eligible for prizes, including one of two reserved campus parking spaces.

Your United Way contributions support community agencies that advance the common good, including the American Red Cross, which helps St. Joseph County in five critical areas: disaster relief, assistance to military families and veterans, lifesaving training and blood donation; the Food Bank of Northern Indiana, which last year distributed more than 5 million pounds of food through 185 member agencies; and the YWCA of St. Joseph County, which offers domestic violence shelter and services.
