Maintenance to affect OIT services Sunday, June 12

On Sunday, June 12, the Office of Information Technologies (OIT) will perform maintenance that will affect access to IT services, and implement a biannual re-authentication to the ND network.


Between midnight and 1:00 a.m. (EST), OIT technicians will upgrade the software and hardware on the Exchange servers. As a result, Exchange email and calendaring will be UNAVAILABLE during this time.

Email sent during this time will be queued and delivered once the upgrade is completed. This maintenance will NOT affect Google email accounts.


Between midnight and 3:00 p.m. (EST), the OIT will upgrade the Banner and Database systems. During this time, many IT services will be UNAVAILABLE. A complete list of affected services is available on the OIT website.


All faculty, staff and students are required to re-authenticate to the ND network twice a year. At noon, all those who use a wired network connection in a building on the ND zoned network, or the ND-guest wireless network must re-authenticate to the network with your NetID and password.

The OIT recommends shutting down your computer at the end of the business day on Friday, June 10. When you login any time AFTER noon on Sunday, June 12, you will be re-authenticated to the ND wired network. If you are unable to access the network after you’ve logged in, open a web browser, and you will be taken to this page:

Follow the directions and you will be re-authenticated to the ND wired network.

Zoned network re-authentication will affect all buildings EXCEPT:

Cushing Hall of Engineering
Engineering North
Fitzpatrick Hall of Engineering
Galvin Life Sciences Center
IU Medical Center
Jordan Hall of Science
Nieuwland Science Hall
Notre Dame Stadium
Stepan Chemistry Hall
Stinson-Remick Hall

This maintenance will NOT affect wireless connections to ND-Secure and NOMAD or VOIP telephones. More information on the zoned network is available on the OIT website.
