The University launched a redesigned ND.edu Sunday, April 1. The new site, designed and built by the University Communications web team, features a responsive, “mobile-up” approach that automatically reorganizes content based on screen size.
“The nearly 3 million users that visit ND.edu each year are extremely diverse, as are the devices they choose to browse with,” explains Nick Johnson, director of web and interactive marketing. “We wanted to showcase this stunning campus and the stories that are born here with the prominence they deserve, all while serving the unique needs of the end user and the platform they are viewing from.”
Users are presented with seasonal photography of iconic University scenes that can be interacted with for additional content. The Notre Dame story is told through a rotating feature block, as well as frequently updated news items.
“From the subpage background—sampled from a wall design on the northern-most interior of the Basilica—to the stories aggregated from all corners of campus, we thought it very important to borrow from the existing DNA of the University,” says Johnson.
