Get ready to slam!

Author: Carol C. Bradley

As a part of the THIRD THURSDAYS @ the SNITE series, the Snite Museum of Art, the Creative Writing Program, the Department of English, The College of the First Year of Studies, and the Department of Africana Studies have joined forces to host the inaugural Wham! Bam! Poetry Slam! from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 18. The event coincides with the 2013 Thesis Exhibition by BFA and MFA Candidates and National Poetry Month.

Aspiring slam poets are invited to perform a three-minute (or less) poem on stage, which will be judged by selected members of the audience. Poems must be original work, on any subject and can be in any style. The use of props is strictly prohibited; only the performer’s body may be used to perform the poem. At the end of the evening, the emcee will announce a winner, and prizes will be awarded. To participate as a poet or as a judge, contact for details.
