The exhibition Cinema Playhouse: Photographs by Nandita Raman, continues at the Snite Museum of Art through Sunday, Dec. 4.

This award-winning suite of 14 large-format black and white photographs of old cinema halls in India built between 1930-1960 explores the physical spaces and their relationship to the aspirations and dreams of those who experienced them. Nandita won first place and Juror’s Pick, Daylight Multimedia and the Center for Documentary Studies Photo Awards, 2010, Durham, North Carolina for this series.
