The Crawfords and daughter Ally (far right) with Grant
The Road to Discovery has reached the flatlands on the home stretch to Dallas on July 8. Greg and Renate Crawford have crossed the length of Tennessee, cut a little corner of Mississippi and made their way into Arkansas.
Along the way, the Crawfords got to meet singer-songwriter Amy Grant, who has been a strong supporter of the Ara Parseghian Medical Research Foundation since the mid-1990s. Her songs “Everybody Needs A Helping Hand” and “Children of the World,” which the Crawfords have on their iPhones, are favorites with many NPC families.
The cyclists made it through their longest day—150 miles—and to avoid much of the heat that tops 100 degrees that far south, they get up before dawn to get the miles in while they enjoy the sunrise.
Renate thought she saw an alligator in Arkansas, but when they ate at a restaurant that offered alligator bites, they went for beefsteak instead. Their older daughter Michaela has joined the family for the final week.
